African Independence

Africa was once was ruled by the europeans and they were there slaves and workers. Du Bois was a strong figure in there independence from europe and he as well as other educated african americans wanted and did it all to get there independence. They formed the pan american congress in 1919 and 19 21.

French speaking africans and west Indians combined to express and show the pride and honor in Africa. The formed a Negritude movement to show they have pride in Afica. This negritude movement is a way to celebrate Afircan culture heritage and values it made it seem as the black experience is one of a kind and special. Lepold Senghor one of the leaders in the movement later on became the first president of Senegal. And little by little the afican countires got there freedom. From Senegal to Angola to Algeria to Kenya.

Schindlers List

Oscar Schindler was a Nazi in Germany. Unlike most Nazis he tried helping out the jews instead of killing them or leading them to a cause of death. He didnt go back on his word on being a Nazi but he found a way to stay a Nazi and not kill the Jews. Instead he took the in and made them work for him in his factories.

Every jew that worked for Oscar was safe from a most harm even tho some nazis would come in a shoot them but Oscar deffended each jew worker and made sure that this act of killing wasnt going to happen. If his workers were killed he would go to a nazi meeting and claim another worker for his that has died.

He na only saved the middle and oldder age he also saved the little childern. Everytime a Nazi would come to kill a worker or take them away Oscar always had a statement or somethign to say to make that worker irreplacable and as if they needed that worker only. Nazis did not like this but couldnt help but stay mad .

In the end the jew got liberatded and Oscar had to leave since the soviet union was out looking for him. People say that they did find him but the jews that he once protected outraged and saved him from death and court since he didnt hurt nobody. Oscar Schindler a hero to remember went and bended the rules to do wa he though was right.

Night and Fog

In this film it shows the viewers how the concentration camp or in other word death camps were 10 years after being evacuated and liberated. It shows the buildingz that kill hundreds and thousands of people. The outpost and the barbwire that surrounded the camp to make sure no one leaves or comes in. It shows us the beforse and after 10 years of this camp. The camp they filmed was the concentration camp in Achwites.

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk

Mustafa was a captain and first president of Turkey. He was born on the year 1881. In his life he was in them military and was known as a "military hero" in Dardanelles in the year of 1915. As the Ottoman empire colapsed he created the Turkish empire and got them settled as being there first president. In the Ottoman empire there was things he disliked and changed in his new formed nation.

One thing he didnt like was what they wore and he wanted to make people in turkey wear european clothes and instead of having the same hat that the muslims wore they wore european hats with grims on them. Turkey was created and established on 1923. He did his best to make his new nation as modern as he could. He was the president for 15 till his death on 1915.

He was not races in any sort and let any religon in but they had to obey his rules. His main concern was keeping his people and his land safe from any attack. Turkey was also anti imperialist so they didnt want to invaded and cause trouble for anyone. People see Mustafa as th3e father of Turkey because he was a good leader and there first prisdent just like how we see George Washington the father of our state .

Causes of WOLRD WAR 1

World War 1 in 1914 untill 1918 and it was with Germany and Austria Hungary started to rebel because of nationalisum. Nationalisum is when you have have strong feelings for ur nation and respect it and will do anything to make others believe it to. They tired to conqure russian and france territory in the war and make there nation bigger.

German and Austria went against France,Great britain ,Russia,Serbia for there quest to get more territory and show pride to there nation. But sadlly that all failed and they lost the war. Instead of gaining land they lost land. Austria Hungary lost the most and out of there land was converted into 3 other nations. But Germany and Austria spend a lot of money and lost so much land that in my oppion goin into that war was the worst thing they could have done.

Nations where formed like Czech Poland Ugoslavia and others. Russia lost some land to but not as much as Germany and specially not as much as Austria. People are true to there nations and are very nationalist about it. Evben though Germany lost and so did Austria they still are nationalist.

Karl Max and Communism

Karl Max Thought the best thing to do was to treat everyone equally so that everyone earned the same ammount of money. At this time period people where divided into classes and alwayz remained in that class . If you were poor you are poor , If your rich your rich. And thats how you lived. Karl Max thought different no matter what job you had you got paid the same.

This made people wprk for a good time but then they started to slack because they didnt need to do as much work. No matter what they are all getting paid the same. So this made people made and was the down fall of Communism. People werent morking to there full standards and everything was going wrong with the machines.

Karl Max illusion to failed . Even though he died before it started going wrong people saw the the down fall and demanded a change because some work more than others and still get paid the same amount. My opinion about it is that it wouldnt work because the people that work harder and have a good education to get a better job should get paid more then the drop outs and the people who dont do nothing at all but thats just my opinion.

Opium Wars

The Opium war started with the britain and china trading. Great Britain trading opium for tea with China. The chinese agreed to this and started the trades with Britain. Opium was a drug in india and as soon as the goverment of china saw its affect on the people they tried to stop the trades for there people. Britain did not stop on the other hand

China then said anyone who sold opium would b sentenced to death in 1838. The faced Britain in a war to stop them from delievring the drug but lost in an easy win for the British because there weapons were to advanced for the chinese. The then legalized the drug and signed the peace treaty with Britain. Great britain the controlled 5 ports instead of won and took control of Hong Kong.

Mountains of the moon

In the movie Mountains of the moon we see to explorers,exploring the land of Africa in search of the Nile River.There names are Richand Burton and John Spehe. They in countered a lot of problem's in this trip. They had a climate that they were not used to receiving. And they were on unmarked territory therefore not knowing if they are going on the right path or heading backwards.

Another problem they in countered was that there were bugs everywhere at night and they had to sleep wit nets on and if you didn't cover that net bugs well come in and poison you or kill you. The bugs were also attracted to the fire because of the light it gave off so every night they would have to put it out or else bugs would be around the area. Other than the bugs they had to in counter different tribes that owned different parts of Africa. Some tribes demanded gifts so they had to give them some goods or supplies as the gifts. Giving out there supplies wasn't the best thing to gave out because they were getting robbed from former members or other tribes. So as you can see they had it ruff.

The film gave me an idea on how hard it is to navigate threw unknown places without that much supplies and the constant look out for tribes or robbers. Even with there minor set backs they were able to locate the nile river and come bake to england with there data and information about africa.

The Meiji Restoration of Japan

The Meiji Restoration of Japan was number of events that led to changes in Japan. There political and social structure was changed. Japan is an archipelago, which basically means a group of islands near each other. Japan had cut them selves out of the world not knowing how advanced they were. There technology were advanced not even knwoing it, until one day Matthew Perry came. Matthew Perry had arrived at Japan with a simple steamed powed boat. this was modern technology to him. But since Japan had cut off on trading routes and all they had never seen this type of technology. that was when there eyes had opened. they then reliezed how far behind they were. Perry had treated them unfairly and cruel. Thinkin that they were not advanced they tried everything they could to advance in everything they could. They never wanted to open up to the world by trades but Perry opened them up and made the trade.

Karl Marx and The Industrial Revolution

Karl Marx's was a very important person in the industrial revolution that helped out in getting people in it there rights in working. He was a German philospher who helped in the idea of communism. He was born on May 5 , 1818. He though it was unfair that the land owners did whatever they like to the workers. That they gave them harsh conditions , and they got fired sometimes for no reason.

He did whatever possible to get his word out about communism and to get the workers to have controll over there work. He created workers united which gave the workers a fighting chance if they thought they were being treated unfairlly since there are all these new jobs and all this new technology no one really knew if they were working unfairlly. People needed someone to lead them threw this unfairness and Karl did just that by spreading his word.

He spread his word but died on March 14 1883. Even tho he passed away his word about getting workers togther and united was spreading more and more and was put into play. In some places the people who supported him where punished hard while others did anything they could to get there power to get paid as much as they are supposed to get paid and it worked.

Reign of Terror

People in France after the French Revolution were all excited all the Peseants of France were knew that there world was gonna change into a Democracy, but before they were able to let the people control Government, people still went against this and wanted there old ways back. This was called The reign of terror.

The reign of terror was a period of time that occured Fifteen months after the French Revolution and it was a problem between two political rivals, the Girondins and The Jacobins. The Jacobins were a very big political group that after the fall of the monarchy in the French Revolution, the jacobins wanted to gain control in the monarch political party and went against them. The Girondins were a group of people who had certain opinions and principles rather than an organized political party so they were more free minded . The Jacobins wanted to place order back into France while the Girondins had other things in mind. This happened because the leader of the Girondins wanted to start a war against Austria but the Jacobins didnt want to because they didnt want militarism.

Maximilien Robespierre was part of this political fight. He was going to stop the Jacobins from starting a war against Austria, and after the battle gain control of the Government. When he accomplished that, he decided to use his power to kill anymore Revolutionaries. The People then felt unsafe and were scared. He was arrested and Executed for causing killing Revolutionaries.

French Revolution

The French Revolution all happened when people have heard from the enlightenment thinkers who spread the word of democracy. People though of the Revolutionary war with America and there independence from the British as an inspiration. So the people went against there king Louis XVI. The people were tired of the way they where being treated. I am talking bout the peasants.

They had to pay the upper estates all the money they had. They were tired of it and since they were being treated unfairly. One big step they did was take the Bastille. they were serious about it and they took the king and the queen out of the throne. They killed Louis the XVI with a weapon called guillotine. The weapon chopped of the victims wit a sharp blade.

After that they had there democracy and where treated equally as the other estates and everyone else paid there taxes. The French were free at last and everyone had the same amount of power and can choose there leader. The peasants have done it they have gained there independence.

Simon Bolivar and Latin American Revolutions

Simon Bolivar was a great leader that helped get independence from Spain. South America used to be owned by spain. Simon then went to spain and to the united states and said he well fight for the independece. He was born on July 24 1783 in Caracas Venezuela. He had a ruff child hodd becuase his parents died before he was a teen.

Simon traveled to Europe nd went to Italy nd France he saw a lot nd learned a lot to. He then also went to the United States of America where he learned that they fought against Great Britian nd won there independence. He though , France nd The US won there liberty so whyt dont we. He was ditermined to win his countries independence. He joined up with a guy Miranda which was also against the spanish. They fought and won but Spain didnt give up and attacked and they tok back there land. Simon then escaped to the Granda where he met new friends and planed to take Venezuela back.

Simon then fought and won the independence of Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela. He then made La Grand Colombia . they where all together untill they all fought for there independence. Bolivar was known as a hero in south america. Bolivar got a country named after him known in south america as Bolivia. He is one of the inspirations to the south american people.
